APPRODA-TI – Anti-conventional Plant Produced Diagnostic Antibodies: Technology Investigation

The APPRODA-TI project focuses on developing an innovative green platform for the plant-based production of monoclonal antibodies for diagnostic use, demonstrated through a proof-of-concept for the development of a total aflatoxin detection kit for the agri-food market.

The project applies Plant Molecular Farming technology to the diagnostic sector, aiming to produce recombinant antibodies in plants and validate their use in diagnostic kits. Its first application targets the agri-food sector, developing tools to detect toxic contaminants in food. The initiative seeks to establish an innovative, sustainable, and highly competitive production platform for the diagnostics of the future. APPRODA-TI arises from the collaboration between TRANSACTIVA and CLONIT, with contributions from leading scientific partners such as the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) and Dr. Erica Bastiani.
